Peonies Take the Cake: Planning Jake and Hyojin’s Dreamy Marriage Proposal

We were elated when Jake contacted our proposal planning company, Modernday Event Design based in Orange County, CA, for help orchestrating his special marriage proposal to Hyojin. We initiated a phone call and quickly learned more about this lovely couple and what made their relationship so special.

Jake was very specific about what he wanted - from color preferences to venue type, to what the proposal site should look like, and as their chosen personal proposal planner and engagement planner, this made our work a piece of cake!  After reviewing some very important details, we made a location recommendation with an unobstructed ocean view for the perfect, romantic marriage proposal at sunset. We immediately began working on the logistics and submitted a permit application to ensure Jake’s preferred location was reserved on the desired date.

With consideration for Hyojin’s love of Peony flowers, we incorporated them into the proposal design plan including a special cake Jake requested from It’s All About The Cake bakery with the words “Will You Marry Me?” inscribed. Our popular large “Marry Me” light up letter marquee made the perfect backdrop. As floral arrangements are a key element to elevate any event design, we worked with Wildflower to create the most beautiful centerpieces in Hyojin’s preferred pastel palette with her favorite Peonies, representing abundance, affluence, and a successful romantic life.

The weather could not have been more ideal with cool fall temperatures and puffy clouds, allowing our skilled photographer, Petra Persaud of Petra Persaud Photography, to perfectly capture the picturesque moment. Petra’s classic style and talent for making couples feel relaxed made her the perfect choice to commemorate their proposal through the lens. Jake and Hyojin’s love is palpable and beautifully documented.
